e-Learning Reaps an Unexpected Return
Our customer, a Fortune 500 financial services company, offered technical and other training to their employees via an e-learning portal. How, and how much, did the training improve their ability to resolve technical problems?
ROI Results:
The company thought that “mean time to repair” was the metric most impacted by the training. The analysis, however, revealed that there was a greater improvement in the number of problems solved per month. For every $1 invested in training, the company received a positive ROI of $10.52.
Optimization Results:
Employees with technical certification received more benefit from training than those who were not certified. To maximize ROI, the company may want to make certification a pre-requisite for this training, and/or offer a different type of training to non-certified employees.
See the Difference!
The figure below shows the estimated improvement in problems solved per month. After the e-training, employees with technical certification resolved an average of 4.8 problems per month more than they had before training. The improvement for employees without certification was dramatically lower.
